Making An Airsoft Field
When building your own airsoft field, you need to make sure you have the basic material needed. First, you need an area you can build on (private property with permission). Next, you need people to help, probably your teammates. Also, you need tools, such as shovels, hammers, nails, axes, etc. You'll also need wood and other materials to make barriers and forts.
Now that you are at the area where you wish to make your field, and you have some tools, materials, and help with you, you need to scout out the area thoroughly. This is so you have an idea of what the area looks like, to look for any potential hazards, find places to make barriers, and find the a place to make the base for each team.
Once you have a general idea of what the area looks like, you need to plan out the field. The simplest way to do this it by taking a piece of paper and a pencil and drawing a map of the area. Then draw symbols to represent the things you will put there (fort, barrier, base) where you want it to go. Make sure you tell everyone about exactly where you want to build these things and make sure everyone comes up with ideas.
Now that you have a plan ready, it's time to start building. Depending on the size of the area, you should usually break off into little groups each building in different areas of the field to finish faster. To make a simple fort, just make a 3 side fence with whatever material in a U-shape for easy entry. For a more complex base, build a small shed with a roof and door. It's also really simple to make barriers. Whatever you come up with that you can hid behind works. A piece of plywood propped between two trees is a really easy one. You can also build small sections of fence with sticks if you are in a woodland environment. If you are in the desert, make fox holes and use the dirt from the to make sand/dirt mounds. If you have old blankets, tie it to two trees about 4-5 feet apart. Secure it by tieing it with string or nailing in to the sticks.
Now you need to assign safety zone, places where people who have been hit can go. You can simply cone off an area near each base and have people go there. If you are playing in a big area, you might want to have several safety zones for each team. If someone is hit, they usually don't want to walk 3 miles to reach a safety zone.
Now that you have finished making the field, have a brief talk with everyone to go over rules and other important things. Be sure to go over hazardous areas to stay away from, and where all the safety zone are. Once that is done, you can finally start a war.
